Our daily travel style is relaxed and intentional. We don't believe in cramming our itinerary with endless activities, instead, we focus on one activity per day, usually for a portion of the day. This approach allows us to travel at a more leisurely pace, giving us the freedom to explore, get lost and see where the day takes us. We believe in taking our time to dig a little deeper into each destination, soaking up the local culture and immersing ourselves in the local way of life. For us, travel is not just about ticking off a bucket list, but about truly experiencing the world around us.
Tentative Itinerary Highlights:
Arrival Day: We'll spend some time resting and acclimating to the time difference. We'll get settled in our accommodation, take a leisurely walk around the neighborhood, and visit some local shops and cafes. If you're feeling up for it, we'll do a walking tour of our neighborhood to get our bearings and learn more about the history and culture of the area.
East London Food Tour: We'll embark on an East London food tour. This area of London is known for its diverse and vibrant food scene, with a mix of traditional British cuisine and international flavors. We'll try local cheese, local ice cream, the best chai in London, bakery delights and more surprises.
Sights of London & Churchhills War Rooms: We'll explore the best of London's iconic sights in just three hours on a walking tour, followed by a visit to Churchill's WW2 War Rooms. We'll discover more than 20 of London's most famous landmarks, from the Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral to Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. Then, step back in time to the Second World War and learn about Churchill's leadership and wartime strategy at the underground War Rooms. This is the perfect way to experience both the history and culture of London in one exciting day!
Afternoon Tea at the Shard: We will enjoy afternoon tea at Shangri-La hotel’s restaurant Ting, which does modern British cuisine with Asian influences and signature dishes. Located 35 floors up the Shard means there are insane views of London from the restaurant, and makes this the highest afternoon tea in western Europe.
Windor Castle & Stonehenge: We'll take a day trip outside of London to visit two iconic attractions: Windsor Castle and Stonehenge. Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. The castle has been home to British monarchs for over 1,000 years and is filled with history and art. Be sure to visit St. George's Chapel, where many royal weddings and funerals have taken place. Afterward, we'll head to Stonehenge, a prehistoric, mysterious and awe-inspiring stone circle that is over 5,000 years old.
Free Day (own expense): You'll have the opportunity to explore any areas of London that you may have missed or revisit your favorite spots. You could also consider taking a day trip to nearby cities such as Oxford or Cambridge. Alternatively, you may wish to simply relax and enjoy some downtime in one of London's beautiful parks, such as Hyde Park or Regent's Park. You could also visit one of London's many museums, such as the British Museum or the National Gallery, to learn more about the city's art and culture. If you're interested in shopping, head to one of London's famous shopping districts, such as Oxford Street or Covent Garden, to browse the latest fashion trends and pick up some souvenirs.
